SUSAN STRAIGHT Crime: Speeding Susan Straight has published six novels, including Highwire Moon (Anchor Books) which was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2001 and won the Gold Medal in Fiction from the Commonwealth Club of California, and A Million Nightingales (Pantheon Books), which will be out in paperback in May 2007. She has also published numerous essays and short stories in magazines such as Harpers, The Nation, The New York Times Magazine, WEST, Family Circle, Salon, and many others. She was born in Riverside, California, where she lives with her daughters.
